This painting is Markandeya's vision of the lord Vishnu as an infant lying on leaf of a banyan tree, in the midst of the primordeal ocean. As the story goes, the sage gets sucked into the mouth of this infant and was surprized to find the entire world arrayed safely inside him, while the pralaya seemed to have destroyed everything, on the outside.
Lord Krishna is the eighth incarnation of God Vishnu in Hinduism. Krishna brings joy. He is often shown wearing a yellow silk dhoti and a peacock feather crown.
